Sunday Funday- 20 Decorating Secrets

Hello Everyone, How are you all today? It has been a few days sense i have been on. Have just been right out straight lately glad to  have a moment to blog.  I have been thinking about doing some redecorating to my house this spring. So i have been researching some ideas and i came across these ones. There are some good ideas here that i would never have thought of. So i thought i would share them with all of you. Have A Wonderful Day

Pick your paint colors last, choose mismatched seating, and don't forget the closet lighting.

Pile On the Pillows.

One pair of pillows always looks skimpy. Use two pairs, in contrasting patterns, colors, and textures

Buy A  Bigger Bed

small-scale furniture only makes a small bedroom look smaller. Try a high bed and a tall headboard. Your room will grow.

Leave Cabinets Open

An open armoire is more interesting than a closed one. Let people into your secret world.

 Go Dark
Dark walls do the opposite of what you'd expect: They make a small room feel bigger.

Wallpaper Is Easy

The fastest way to make over sliding closet doors is to wallpaper them, like Melissa Warner did to turn a bedroom into her office.

Large Collections Need Order
Wall brackets can bring order to a large collection or odd shapes, which is what Mary Watkins Wood did in her master bedroom.
Use a Real Rug in the Bathroom
Use a rug instead of a bath mat. It was made to withstand a lot more wear than the occasional wet foot.

It's Okay to Skip the Sofa
There's no rule that a living room has to have a sofa.

White Works.
You'll never get tired of a white room.

Mix Styles.
A four-poster bed will take the chill out of a modern bedroom, like this one designed by Vicente Wolf.

Layer Your Lighting.
Four lamps are better than two. You need ambient light for mood and direct light for reading.
Tuck In Your Throws.
Keep throws under control. Fold them lengthwise, then in half, then tuck them into cushions.

Kick Your Traditional Coffee Table to the Curb.
The most versatile coffee table you'll ever own is an ottoman topped with a tray.
Skirted Furniture Finishes a Room.
Too many chair and table legs can make a room "nervous." A skirted piece or two will make it feel "grounded."

Gold Is Gorgeous.
Gold is back in a big way. A few accents will warm up a room, like this classic living room designed by Kirsten Fitzgibbons and Kelli Ford.

Plants Cheer Up a Lonely Corner.
Nothing softens a lonely corner in a big room like a potted tree.

Leather Lasts.
The most indestructible fabric for dining chairs is leather or vinyl. Especially if you want white.

Switch Up Your Seating.Mix up the seating at your dining table. You wouldn't have eight identical chairs in your living area

Don't Forget the Closet Lighting.
Love your closets. Paint them, paper them, hang pictures in them to inspire you. And definitely light them.
Refinish Vintage Finds.
Don't be afraid to paint a vintage piece. Every piece of furniture can't be brown.

Pillow Talk

Hello Everyone, How are you all today?  Just some fun facts that i stumbled upon online and wanted to share with all of you. It turns out that the way you arrange your pillows may have some meaning to it! How you arrange your pillows can reveal clues to your psyche. How crazy is that? According to this my pillow arrangement says that i have modernist style and that I'am artistic, creative, and intellectual. Read on to see what your pillow arranging style says about you. Hope You All Have A Wonderful Day :)

Asymmetrical Pillows
If Your Pillows Are Asymmetrical

Are your pillows tossed about in any which way? Do you arrange your pillows without a particular order? Your unfussy style says that you are a relaxed, bohemian type who's easygoing and open to new experiences.

Balanced Pillows

If Your Pillows Are Balanced, but Have a Single Accent

Do you prop pillows the classical way, but throw the symmetry off with one extra bolster? Do you prefer when something doesn't look too perfect? If so, your style is traditional with a twist. You're never too prim and proper — but you aren't given to the latest trends either.

If Your Pillows Are Precisely Stacked

Are your pillows tiered, trim, and level? Does clutter on the nightstands (or anywhere) drive you crazy? This systematic, monastic tower of pillows indicates you have a modernist style. If someone saw your bed, they would probably guess that you're artistic, creative, and intellectual.
Delicate and Decorative Pillows

If Your Pillows Are Delicate and Decorative

Are your pillows an exuberant array of Euro-square, cases, shams, boudoirs, and neck rolls? Do designs without embellishment feel cold and unwelcoming to you? If you're drawn to a dreamy, whimsical look, then you're a romantic. You prefer frilly and feminine to streamlined and rigid and are a firm believer that more is more.

Perfectly Symmetrical Pillows

If Your Pillows Are Perfectly Symmetrical

Do you consider yourself organized? Keeping all your ducks in a row —and your pillows too — means you have a tailored, classic style. This look is best for someone who is detail-orientated, organized, and orderly.

Tip: Stick to the same color scheme when selecting pillows, but try using                                                       different prints and patterns to mix up the look.

Change In The Zodiac Part 2

Hello Friends, How is everyone today? I have been doing some more research on this zodiac celestial kerfuffle again today and i found another read up about it online. They say that they have know about this 13th sign for a millennia. So here is the second read up that i found online. What does everyone else think of this change? Hope you all have a wonderful day

New zodiac signs 2011: Can one guy just change the zodiac like that?

In a newspaper interview, astronomer Parke Kunkle pointed out a fact that astronomers have known for millennia, prompting an uproar among those who believe in astrology.

A newspaper interview with an astronomer has rocked the astrological world, leading some believers to worry that they've been referring to themselves as the "wrong" sign for all these years, and that instead of being, say, sensitive, dependable, and stubborn, they are now emotional, reliable, and obdurate.

In an interview with the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune, Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society explained something astronomers have known for millenia: that the sun doesn't actually rise and fall through the constellations on the dates that your horoscope says that it does, and that it actually passes through a 13th constellation, Ophiuchus, the Snake Annoyer.

Can one man unilaterally change the zodiac? Just because Mr. Kunkle thinks you are now an Ophiuchus and not a Sagittarius, should we all just throw away our quivers and stomp our hooves in astrological outrage?

Actually, Kunkle didn’t change anything at all. All he did was explain what is actually happening in the night sky – which is sort of what astronomers do.

Here we, too, will try to explain the science behind the celestial kerfuffle. Just don’t get angry at us for slighting your favorite constellation.

Astronomically speaking, the zodiac is simply a way of plotting the movement of the sun against the stars behind it. When Babylonian sky-watchers thousands of years ago recorded the course of the sun in the sky for a year, they discovered that the sun moves through only a few of the dozens of charted constellations.

These constellations are the constellations of the zodiac.

But the astrological version of the zodiac was never astronomically accurate, and has become less so over time.

• The sun actually moves through 13 constellations, but the numerologically inclined Babylonians opted to go with a more auspicious 12. The constellation left out: Ophiuchus.

• The calendar for the zodiac was also set up for simplicity, not astronomical accuracy. So each of the 12 constellations of the zodiac was arbitrarily assigned a full month – one-twelfth of the sun’s yearly path – when, in fact, the path of the sun means it might only graze some constellations briefly while passing right through the middle of others.

• Finally, thanks to the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun, the Earth wobbles on its axis a bit, meaning that the sun’s path through the stars over the course of a year appears slightly different from the way it did 3,000 years ago when the zodiac was devised, resulting in a one-month shift in the stars' alignments. The earth's axis takes about 26,000 years to go full circle.

All Kunkle was doing – as many astronomers have done before him – was telling people astronomy’s take on the zodiac. In other words, he was answering a very simple astronomical question: When is the sun in which constellation?

Given that astronomers have set up formal boundaries for every constellation in the sky, it is possible to answer this with perfect accuracy. The result is of this astronomical clarity, though, is astrological chaos.

All this is old news, but for some reason, the story went viral this time, leading millions to search for their "new" astrological sign. Kunkle, whose comments were not based on any new research, told the Star-Tribune that he was surprised at the sudden attention.

Astronomers have been telling the world that astrology is a load of tosh for centuries. Why are people suddenly listening this time? Perhaps the stars were aligned.

Change In The Zodiac

Hello Friends, How is everyone today? Subject for my blog today is change in the zodiac. They have added a new zodiac sign because the moon’s gravitational pull has made the Earth “wobble” around its axis in a process called precession resulting about a one-month bump in the stars’ alignment. We now have 13 signs the new one being called Ophiuchus moving everybody back a month. I was born an Aquarius but i  have always felt that i had traits of both Aquarius and Capricorn, i always read both horoscopes and i have always felt i should be called a cappaquar, there is no such sign but there should have been  lol. I was born on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius. "Let me explain what that means". Because the solar disc has a diameter of approximately half a degree, it is possible for the Sun to straddle the cusp as it moves across the sky. When this occurs at the moment of birth such a person is said to be "born on the cusp" and some believe that their life is influenced by the characteristics of both signs, this is exactly how i feel. For example, if an individual was born when the Sun (by convention the point at the center of the Solar disc) was located at 29 degrees, 50 minutes Gemini, then one might say that he was born on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer. Much of the Solar disc was actually in Cancer even though the center was in Gemini. I study the zodiac a little I'm not deep into it but when i do study it i find it can be very interesting and i learn alot about myself,  but i'm not sure i agree with the new zodiac sign yet maybe in time i will because i have never felt like i have had full traits of either sign now they want to call me a Capricorn instead of an Aquarius not sure i agree just yet. I wont get into depth with the zodiac or i will probably have a 10 page blog lol. So i just wanted to share this read up that i found online with all of you about the zodiac change. Hope you all have a wonderful day

Zodiac Signs Change

Zodiac Signs Change has become a matter of debate. The theory stated for the new Zodiac signs to arise is that the moon’s gravitational pull has made the Earth “wobble” around its axis in a process called precession resulting about a one-month bump in the stars’ alignment.
Mark Mazurkiewicz the Planetarium’s Director said that the earth moves every 25,000 years and it’s a very very slow wobble, but enough to shift the sky.
“As far as belief that’s really up to the individual. I guess the only person it really affects who have tattoos of their constellation,” said Mazurkiewicz.
A funny tweet came out on twitter as “Nuclear bomb Tests shifted the Earth,Earth shifted Zodiac Signs, and Zodiac Signs shifted Personality”
As per the reports of Gallup poll,a quarter of Americans believe the moon and the stars can affect a person’s life. Some Astrology experts are of the view that the shift in zodiac signs does not apply to most Westerners. They follow the tropical zodiac, which is fixed to the seasons.
The bottom line is this: This “drift” in the sun’s apparent position relative to the background stars and constellations has been known and understood by Astronomers and Astrologers since the Greek astronomer Hipparchus figured it out in 134 BC.

New Zodiac signs 2011 are:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11 – April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 – 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan. 20
Astrologers who use the dates and positions dictated by Near Eastern astronomers hundreds of years before the Christian Era are well aware of it, and they don’t care. They said they’re not going to change the dates they use, and they’re not going to add a “13th sign” – Ophiuchus – to the Zodiac.

Another Snow-Day

Hello Friends, How has everyone been? Not to much has been going on in my world. We got another snow storm today about 7in so far blah and it's still snowing off and on, to top it all off we lost our power for about 3 hours that was fun, it was right after the sun went down so we lit some lanterns and spent the evening playing cards to pass the time. My little dog ended up getting buried in it when she went outside, she is only about 4in tall she looked like a little snow bunny out there hopping around, but it was so cute shes not much of a snow dog when the snow is deeper then she is tall, can't say that i blame her. The roads are still pretty yucky we took a spin into town for a few supply,s they were not plowed very well at the time and not alot of sand had been put down yet hoping for better result traveling on them tomorrow morning, slippery roads are no fun at 6am, I have to say that's the only thing i don't like about the snow it really is pretty other then that. Well guess I'm going to end my blog on that note for today and call it a night. Hope you all have a wonderful evening

Facebook And ID Thieves

Hello everyone how have you all been? I had to work all weekend so today I have been doing some reading and  trying to just rest and  recover from this awful cold i picked up at work, they say that rest is the best medicine when you are sick, i have had it for a week now and it still hasn't gone away yet blah and I was just reading some facts online about social networking and how it could be a  fraudster's best friend if you are not careful, these are some good facts if you have facebook so I thought it would be a good subject for my blog today.

What Your Facebook Profile May Be Telling ID Thieves

Seemingly harmless information can help ID thieves unlock key to your identity.

Your pet's name is a fraudster's best friend.

You may think you're revealing precious little when you tell your Facebook friends that you're dressing your pooch, Puddles, in your favorite color, red, for brunch at Grandma's on Sunday. But you've actually just opened a Pandora's box of risks.

The information consumers willingly, and often unwittingly, post on social-media websites can be a gold mine for fraudsters looking to steal everything from your flat-screen TV to your identity.

What's more, tidbits like your birth date, birthplace and the last school you attended are typically the challenge questions posed by bank websites and online retailers to verify your identity.

"Despite all the awareness that people have about identity fraud and privacy on social networks, there is a disconnect between [that and what they are] disclosing in online space and social environments," said Thomas Oscherwitz, chief privacy officer for ID Analytics, a San Diego-based consumer risk management firm.

More than 24 million Americans 18 years old and older are still leaving their social-network profiles mostly public, meaning they aren't activating privacy controls that limit who can see their information online, according to a Harris Interactive survey conducted in October for ID Analytics.

The survey also found that nearly 70 million U.S. adults on social-networking sites include their birthplace — one of the most common security questions asked by financial institutions — on their profiles.

"The information people are disclosing is not the entire piece of the puzzle but it's certainly helpful," Oscherwitz said. Thieves steal identities in pieces, he said, and layer them on each other for a clearer picture.

Say you post on a social-media site that you're at a tanning salon ahead of your week-long trip to the Bahamas the day after your birthday. You're telling potential burglars that not only are you away from home for an hour or so, but beginning Tuesday, your home likely will be empty for seven days.

"Even listing daily activities can let strangers know your routine and put you at risk," said Gail Cunningham, spokeswoman for the National Foundation of Credit Counseling.

Too much information can hurt you in other ways. John Sileo, a Denver-based identify-theft expert, said your online chatter could equip an ex-spouse with ammunition for a court challenge. Future or current employers could have a problem with information about your personal life that they deem inappropriate for a member of their staff, he said.

You also could be furnishing a would-be stalker with information about your whereabouts. "We are giving people the little pieces of our trust or access to our trust that allows them to get bigger things out of us," said Sileo, founder of the ThinkLikeaSpy.com newsletter.

Tips to Stay Safe

Here's some advice from Sileo, who wrote the "Facebook Safety Survival Guide," about protecting online privacy on all social-networking sites:

• Never post your exact date and place of birth. It's invaluable information to identity thieves, particularly when the two are bundled together.

• Never post your address, phone number or email address. This is plum information to scammers and marketers who are looking for nuggets of your identity.

• Control who can see your personal information. Many social-networking sites have privacy features, but they change often. Know what they are, stay on top of them and restrict your page to your real friends, not friends of friends or someone you met in a bar.

• Limit information about your activities. If you must brag about a trip or a fabulous party, do it after the fact.

• Remember that what you post is public and permanent. Don't put up embarrassing photos that you wouldn't show your grandmother. Don't complain about your job or your boss. Don't say something to or about someone that you wouldn't say to his face. Don't threaten others.

• Know the four types of Facebook users: friends, outsiders, businesses and enemies.

• You should know exactly who wants to be your friend or is asking you to link into their network. Some people will befriend your friends to get to you or your company.

• Be wary of seemingly harmless quizzes. When someone invites you to take a survey, say, "10 Things Others Don't Know About You" or "My Favorite Things," it may be designed to harvest your data. The name of the street you grew up on or your favorite vacation spot could be clues to your passwords.

• Before you share any information anywhere online about yourself or your workplace, ask this question: What would the consequences be if this information fell into the hands of my boss, competitor or people who don't like me?

TGIF A Snow-Day

Hello everyone TGIF and brrr it's a cold snowy day out there and all i want to do is curl up under my blankets and take a nap, oh how i would so much like to hibernate all winter like a bear in his cave *'sigh'*. But sense i have to commute to work that's just not going to happen, I'm just not a snow baby even though i was born in the middle of winter lol. We were supposed to get the snow Saturday but it started today and now looks like it's going to go threw the whole weekend not so happy about that, not looking forward to driving on it over the weekend, hope it doesn't amount to much, it always sucks when you have to drive on slippery roads. At least my birds were happy eating at their feeder today they don't seem to mind the cold and snow so much, they are so pretty out their singing and eating, i enjoy watching them and listening to them, can't wait for my spring birds to come back and join the winter flock. There's not much snow yet but it's still snowing i really can't wait until spring! Just getting ready to settle in for some of my Friday night shows with my love and maybe a pizza that sounds good. That about sums up my snow-day anybody want to switch places yet preferably someplace warm I could really use a tan about now lol. Hope everyone has a wonderful day :-)

Video of the week -What dogs are really thinking

Hello everyone well so far 2011 hasn't been to bad for me hope everyone has had a good beginning so far, minus the fact that my battery died in the middle of the road on  new years day, we jumped it and managed to get it dropped off at the garage to be fixed, thinking it was going to need a new alternator or a battery, turned out to just be the alternator belt, that was alot better then the alternator. Other then that my 2011 has been good so far hope it only get better. I defiantly can't wait until spring hits though tired of the cold and snow already. Spent some time with one of my good friends today, we had pedicures done, I have no idea why i did it, considering there is snow and ice everywhere it's not like I can show them off in flip flops yet, well i could, but i think my toes would be a tad bit chilly and frostbitten, my friend is going to Florida for a week so she actually has an excuse to show her toes off. It was defiantly fun though and got us out of the house for some girl time before she leaves, it's always nice to have soft feet and pretty toes even if it is too cold to where flip flops yet, at least my fuzzy socks will like them anyway lol. Think I'm going  to start posting a funny or cute video of the week and post one every week, their is so many cute and funny videos out there i just must share with you all, so i think i will post a cute or funny video of the week on my blog, sounds like a fun idea and at least my readers will be entertained when they read my blog. So here is the winner this week just pause the music player in my blog so you can hear the video, and if you like my blog please follow me before you leave. Everybody have a wonderful day.

Animals Sitting Like Humans

Hey bloggers how has everyone been? Today's subject the animals and how human like they can be.  Society is addicted to animals acting like humans: it’s why Mr. Ed became an icon, people have twitter, facebook and blogs for their  cat's & dog's , and Pixar is a multi-billion-dollar company.  We just love to put our pets in these positions  because they have no idea what’s going on, purely for our entertainment.  No matter how insane, predictable, or trivial these situations may appear, we just can’t get enough. I stumbled upon these pictures and just had to share with everyone.  Something so stupid, so simple but it’s cute and freakishly entertaining.
